December 13, 2014 - After spending his eighth grade and freshman year with the Lightning Varsity, current sophomore goalie Gavin Catalano announced this week that he has made a verbal commitment to St. John`s University (New York City) after his graduation from Arcadia in 2017. # 1285 All Greater Rochester 2017 The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by Canandaigua senior Attackman, Devin Andrews who was named "Player of the Year". Andrews, who was also a US Lacrosse All-American, scored 72 goals and 47 assists this year. The SportsFive Offensive Player of the Year plans to study and play at Stony Brook next year. |

The awards, sponsored by US Lacrosse, identify some of the best players from each area around the country. Each of the thirty-six coaches in the section has a vote on each of the awards. |
# 1219 Wayne Wins on Cradle for a Cure Night Wayne hosted their fifth annual “Cradle for a Cure” event today and defeated Gananda 23-5. The “Cradle for a Cure” event began five years ago as a fundraising/awareness event after a local lacrosse player received a cancer diagnosis. Every year since, Wayne has hosted a multigame event with boys and girls lax with the hope of donating to both local charities and a local family in need of assistance. Earlier in the evening in the girls’ contest, Waterloo defeated Wayne 17-9 (HERE). |
# 1037 Wayne Over Waterloo Although Waterloo scored the first goal, Wayne fought back and led the entire second half in their 8-3 victory. The turning point for the Eagles came in the last 2:20 of the second quarter. They scored three goals in less than two minutes to take the game from a close 3-2 to a controlling 6-2 going into the half. Nic Martin, Jack Camp and on Ecker each added a goal for Wayne. |

# 439 2016 All-Section Five List Released This is the sixth year for the Section Five All-Section Team. It is an effort by the Lacrosse Committee and the coaches of Section Five to identify some of the top players among the over 1,100 varsity players in the section this year. Nominations for the lists came from Head coaches, administrators and SportsFive personnel. This year 15 players were selected for the first team, 13 players for second team and this year, 12 players on the third team. Our six All Americans automatically make the first team. All players on this list must first be named to their first team All-League teams or be from Independent teams. |
